Description

The goals of the course are twofold: to introduce mathematical tools relevant in many fields of physics such as quantum mechanics, solid state physics or particle physics, as well as to familiarize the student with basic mathematical terminology and concepts (groups, group action, normal group, Lie groups and Lie algebras) which will facilitate his or her future confrontation with mathematics literature.

1) Abstract algebra and group theory
2) Linear representation of finite groups
3) General topology and topological groups
4) Lie groups
5) SU(2) and SO(3)
