A review will be given on main trends of the application of laser radiation in nuclear physics :

  1. Connections between atomic and nuclear physics.
  2. Laser on-line ionization spectroscopy of short-lived nuclei.
  3. Laser detection of very rare atoms and long-lived isotopes.
  4. Laser on-line separation of nuclear isomers and isobares.
  5. Mixed nuclear-optical transitions.
