Coating flows arise in many everyday circumstances, have many industrial applications. We present some of the basic features of coating flows of thin viscous films, briefly describe the classical Landau-Levich-Derjaguin solution for forced coating, and summarize a variety of similar dynamical problems. Two flows are then described.

In the first example we investigate the influence of surface tension on the shape of fluid films that coat the interior of a rotating horizontal cylinder. In the second example we consider thin film flows that exhibit corners.
