In the brain, neurons interact transmitting impulses through specific structures called
synapses. The precise interconnection map as well as the intensity of the synaptic
transmission are deemed to support memory formation and storage as well as the
acquisition of new skills. These synaptic transmissions are modulated during learning
through mechanisms called synaptic plasticity.
