Jose Cernicharo (Centro de Astrobologia, Madrid, Spain) - Jeudi 23 janvier.

Radio observations are the most powerful tool to derive the abundance of polar carbon chain radicals. However, key species as C2H2, CH4, C2H4, and even larger molecules, can not be observed in the radio domain. Therefore, the study of the chemical processes leading to the formation of carbon molecules in evolved stars represents a real challenge as many of these species can only be observed through their vibrational modes and could contain a significant amount of carbon. In this talk I will review our understanding of these chemical processes and the observed variation with distance of the abundances of carbon molecules.

The role that new instruments, such as ALMA, and new projects such as NANOCOSMOS, could play in the study of the chemistry of the innermost regions of the circumstellar envelopes will be discussed.
